Death is in the Details is a 3D murder-mystery puzzle game where a hobbyist miniature painter discovers that his model town is alive…mostly. There has been a murder in town and everyone’s a suspect! In this game, players take on two roles: the meticulous miniature painter, and the sharp-eyed gruff detective. As the painter, you will restore figures and objects, bringing the world to life and revealing hidden memories and vital clues with each brushstroke. As the detective, players step into the tiny town to investigate surrounding buildings, question residents, and connect secrets. Each miniature you paint pulls you deeper into the mysterious death of the mayor and closer to uncovering a dark truth with every discovery.
Death is in the Details was developed as my senior capstone project at George Mason University. The game is my first programming-intensive experience within Unreal Engine, as well as my first c++ project. I worked with a team of two designers and three artists to complete this project over the course of a year. As the team's sole programmer, I wrote all the c++ logic for the game, designed our core systems, managed the team's GitHub repository, and was the go-to contact for any troubleshooting issues that arose with the engine and with the repository. This project taught me the ins and outs of Unreal Engine, as well as how to use c++, plugins, multithreading, and delegates to structure logic inside of the engine.
